One of the most profound questions we can ask ourselves. What about the answer?
In today's digital world, we can learn so much about the near-death experiences of countless people. The information available is now comprehensive and, in some cases, well-researched.
I remember when I was 13 years old. I had already found an answer to this question for myself. By chance, I saw a report on Austrian television by a journalist who had made a programme about this very topic.
The report featured a girl in a hospital – I can't recall which one – who had suffered an accident and needed emergency surgery. During the entire procedure, the girl's consciousness was not present in her body. Later, in therapy, she drew pictures of her emergency operation from a bird's-eye view, as if she were floating on the ceiling. The number of people present was correct, the surroundings – everything matched.
How could this girl have known how many people were present and depict the situation so accurately in her drawings?
It became clear to me that out-of-body experiences must be possible, and consequently, we can leave our bodies, and there must be something more.
Later, I delved deeper into this phenomenon, and the more I learned, the more certain I became: it continues.
However, we mustn't forget the criticisms. It's often suggested that this is merely a mechanism of the mind, a kind of built-in system during the dying process that releases substances, allowing one to die naturally, without fear or pain. Essentially, a completely normal process with nothing at all to do with life after death. Some even claim to have stimulated certain brain areas to induce a near-death experience.
That all sounds plausible enough, but it conveniently overlooks the fact that the information shared by those affected was only perceivable from outside the body, from a different perspective.
There are countless accounts: of tools used and then put back in drawers, of people, conversations, and so on.
Soberly considered, one can only conclude that there is more – something like life after death.
If you listen to experts who have extensively studied this topic, or doctors who have received such information directly from patients, you quickly realise how convinced these people are.
In America, one doctor, intending to be very clever, decided to tackle this subject once and for all with a study.
Pictures were installed just below the ceiling, visible only from above. If someone had such an experience, they should be able to say what images were mounted there.
The study remained unfinished for a long time; presumably, they hoped to quickly announce that no results were forthcoming. After a long period, they simply stated that more research was needed and that the generally accepted notions of when a person is dead needed further investigation.
How that progresses and what it looks like afterwards is pure speculation, but it's also very interesting and important.
