In moments of difficulty, when life hits us hard, it's vital to focus on the positive and gently keep moving forward. The key is not to stand still. As long as we get up more often than we fall, we’re on the right path.
The past should no longer be our focus; instead, it’s essential to concentrate on what truly matters. This is a way out of difficult times. In challenging situations, it’s wise to act this way.
As the Bible says, “Let the weeds stand and tend to the harvest, to the plants, first.” Only when the fruits are ripe should we address the weeds. The initial focus is on nurturing the fruits.
In other words, let’s concentrate on the positive. Once we have enough energy and strength, we can turn our attention to smaller worries. Exceptions exist if the negative has acute effects. Here, I’m referring to everyday negativity, which can often be neglected as it’s beyond our control.
Once we’ve stabilised ourselves by focusing on the positive, we begin to read from the “Book of Life.” If you’re wondering if there’s nothing positive in your life, you might be under a great delusion.
Our nature tends to react to new things with fear initially. While fear can protect us from danger, in daily life it can be paralysing. This fear is a tool without rational intelligence. It merely compares what exists with what is new. If we suppress this fear, we ultimately harm ourselves. The art lies in using what is helpful and recognising and processing what is excessive, so it doesn't harm us.
Think of fear like darkness: you only illuminate the important spots with a torch. What’s crucial is how you direct the beam.
Start looking for the good and practise gratitude daily. Here are some ideas: you might be healthy, live in one of the better countries in the world, and be able to make your own decisions and act independently. Even if some of these points don't apply, everyone can find something to be grateful for.
By practising gratitude, you shift your focus from natural fear towards life. You’ll be surprised by the effect of this attitude – this is the true reality, not the natural fear that often spirals out of control, especially in modern countries.
With gratitude at your core, you’ll gradually gain the strength to read from the Book of Life.
You can look back at your past and recognise what you’ve already learned, how often life has been kind to you, how you’ve been enriched, and how you’ve arrived at this point.
