The Formula for Success: Caught Between Forces

Life is a continuous interplay of two forces that influence our minds, our bodies, and almost every aspect of our environment. These dynamic interactions are based on natural laws which, on closer inspection, reveal themselves to be guided by two primary forces.

For success, it's essential to understand these natural laws and be aware of the influences of both forces. Effectiveness is usually achieved by strengthening the positive force and weakening the negative, to attain optimal results.

Let's consider a practical example: Suppose you want to lose weight and stay slim permanently. This requires a healthy diet and controlling calorie intake, as successful weight loss is unlikely without these strategic measures.

Yet, that's only the beginning. Our bodies are genetically programmed to store fat to ensure survival in times of scarcity. Fortunately, this necessity no longer applies in our current era of abundance, where many people suffer from their natural tendency to accumulate fat.

Our perceptual system and fundamental natural conditions have barely changed, while our environment has transformed drastically. We adapt only slowly to these new circumstances, even though humans have always had to function as problem-solvers.

In the past, survival demanded great caution, excellent perception, and the ability to switch instantly from calm to fight-or-flight mode in extreme situations. These demands are largely superfluous today, but the fundamental nature of humanity remains unchanged.

We are instinctively sceptical of anything new, as every change could potentially be dangerous. Meeting new people, therefore, involves a natural caution and distance, which was vital for survival in earlier times.

Civilisation has, in many areas, controlled the darker sides of human nature. Dangers that were once commonplace occur less frequently today. Nevertheless, fear, which was once vital, often becomes uncontrollable. It persists even when the actual danger has been removed.

Fear now has little positive effect on us. Instead, it becomes a burden. The crucial aspect of usefulness is missing, resulting in an imbalance. This imbalance makes life harder for all of us.

This imbalance can lead to persistent stress, encourage illness, or cause constant, subtle, and unnecessary negative states.

When you are aware of these two forces, you have the opportunity to influence yourself positively. In the case of weight loss, this means eating better and reducing calories – this would be strengthening the positive force and diminishing the negative one that prevents the body from shedding fat and switching into defence mode. Only those who confront both forces with a clear strategy will be able to manage the important issue of nutrition successfully in the long term.

The mouth is the gateway to the body; those who do not control their gateway face many problems, which become increasingly severe with age.

Today, it is known that obesity significantly impairs quality of life on many levels. This law of forces can be applied to countless aspects of our lives.

He who keeps the negative force in check will go even further than someone who only strengthens the positive force and neglects the negative side.

Here is another example, intended to deepen or better understand the concept of the two forces and how to deal with them.

Imagine you set yourself a goal that you absolutely want to achieve.

It is, of course, essential to first define a clear goal to even have a direction for your actions. This corresponds to strengthening the positive force.

No one can achieve a goal without first deciding that they want to pursue it.

Now for the other force: setting a goal not only ties up resources but can also have unforeseen consequences that may only become clear once the goal has been reached. A poorly chosen goal can therefore also pose a significant danger, especially if one is not fully aware of the potential consequences.

In this context, it is advisable to consult someone who has already achieved the goal and who is able to give honest and objective feedback, without being influenced by conflicts of interest. This helps you to consider both forces and benefit maximally.

By following this strategy, you might even achieve the goal more successfully than anyone before, simply because you adhered to this formula for success: always strengthening the positive force and minimising the negative.

Important decisions should never be made without consciously considering both aspects.
