God's Grace Knows No Bounds
«And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.»
«I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.»
Let these verses remind you to take your own Bible in your hands, read them there again and, if you wish, continue a little further. Holding God's Word in your hands also gives you a precious moment away from the digital world.
Do not read the Bible in one long run, but passage by passage: one text, unhurried, asking the Holy Spirit for understanding. Whoever tries to swallow everything at once loses the overview. Whoever takes one passage each day will see the whole picture over time.
The connection
In the Old Testament, we see God withdrawing His threatened punishment when people turn from their evil ways. Christ reveals this mercy even more profoundly: He teaches us that there is great joy in heaven over every single person who turns to God. God's grace is not merely a withholding of punishment, but an active, jubilant love that seeks and celebrates every lost soul.
Reflection
Yesterday, we reflected on how God hears us even in the depths, even when we lack words. Today, we see how God's heart responds to our turning back to Him – with joy and forgiveness. The story of Jonah and Nineveh shows us a fascinating side of God: He is not rigid in His judgments, but responds to the attitude of people. When they turn away from their wrong path, He turns to them in grace.
This grace is not just a passive pardon. Jesus makes it clear that there's a heavenly party when a sinner repents. Imagine that: the whole of heaven rejoices! This is a radically different picture of justice than we often hold. It's not about who is perfect, but about who is willing to reorient themselves and embrace God's love. It's an invitation to each of us to start afresh, again and again.
For you today, this means: no matter what happened yesterday, no matter where you currently stand, God's heart is full of joy when you turn to Him. You don't have to be perfect to experience His grace. An honest step of repentance is enough, and heaven celebrates with you. Let this boundless, joyful mercy carry and inspire you today.

Dear God, I thank You that Your heart is not hard, but full of joy when I turn to You. It is so comforting to know that You do not wait for my mistakes to condemn, but for my repentance to celebrate. Help me today to embrace this joy within me and to reflect it in my daily life. Let me feel Your mercy and pass it on. Amen.
