The Child in the Manger Brings Peace
«For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.»
«And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.»

Do not read the Bible in one long run, but passage by passage: one text, unhurried, asking the Holy Spirit for understanding. Whoever tries to swallow everything at once loses the overview. Whoever takes one passage each day will see the whole picture over time.
The connection
In the Old Testament, Isaiah announces the birth of a child whose names reveal his divine authority and his mission to bring peace. Christ, born in the manger, fulfils this prophecy. He is the Prince of Peace, whose arrival is celebrated by the heavenly host as the beginning of peace on earth—a peace made possible through his love and redemptive work.
Reflection
Yesterday, we saw the light shining in the darkness. Today, we look deeper into this light, which comes to us in the form of a child. Isaiah describes him with names that fill us with wonder: Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. It is almost unbelievable that all this grandeur is hidden within a small, helpless baby.
The angels rejoice when this child is born. They sing of glory to God and of peace for humanity. This peace is not a superficial truce, but a deep, comprehensive serenity that God Himself desires to place in our hearts. It is the peace that arises when evil loses its power and love reigns.
This Prince of Peace does not come with military might or political strength. He comes as a child, vulnerable and small, to show us that God's greatest power lies in love and self-giving. He invites you to seek and receive this peace today in your daily life, especially in the small, unassuming moments.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the child in the manger, the Prince of Peace. It is unfathomable that You became so small and human to bring us Your peace. Help me today to find this deep peace that surpasses all my anxieties. Let me feel Your presence and recognise that Your love is the true source of rest and security. May Your peace guide my heart and my thoughts, so that I may also share it with others. Amen.
